Karla Scott, CFE, is a forensic financial specialist, fraud examiner, investigator, and nationally recognized speaker with more than 20 years of experience uncovering risk, strengthening accountability, and improving systems across government, financial services, insurance, healthcare, and regulated environments.
Karla currently serves as a Forensic Financial Specialist with the Supreme Court of Nevada, where she conducts complex financial investigations involving guardianship matters, fiduciary accountability, financial exploitation, and the protection of vulnerable adults and minors. Her work includes analyzing financial records, identifying patterns of risk, evaluating compliance concerns, and collaborating with courts, attorneys, law enforcement, government agencies, financial institutions, and community partners.
Throughout her career, Karla has worked at the intersection of fraud prevention, investigations, compliance, and organizational leadership. Her experience spans banking, insurance investigations, regulatory oversight, healthcare compliance, public-sector program integrity, and executive operations. This diverse background allows her to approach fraud not only as an investigative challenge, but also as a human, organizational, and systemic issue.
Karla serves as a faculty member for the Supreme Court of Nevada, where she develops and delivers education for judges, attorneys, guardians, court personnel, and justice partners. She is recognized for transforming complex investigative concepts into practical strategies professionals can immediately apply.
An experienced conference speaker, Karla has presented at the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Global Fraud Conference in Boston, the National Guardianship Association Conference, and the State Bar of New Mexico. Her presentations are known for their engaging style, practical application, and ability to connect with diverse audiences.
Karla is passionate about helping fraud professionals recognize the full value of their skills and the many career opportunities available beyond traditional investigative roles. She believes the CFE credential represents more than expertise in fraud—it represents adaptability, critical thinking, and the ability to create impact across industries and around the world.
Karla earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of Nevada, Reno, is a Certified Fraud Examiner, and is a graduate of the Supreme Court of Nevada Train-the-Trainer Program.
